Many Brooklyn buildings have retail spaces on the first floor and apartments on the floors above. And every so often I see that a first floor retail space has been turned into a first floor apartment. In theory it would be amazing to have a huge retail window in your living room, but in practice how do you get any privacy without sacrificing sunlight and style when people are passing by your window at eye level?
Not only did they achieve privacy, style, and keep the sunlight streaming in, but they also added some plant life. The air I’m breathing feels cleaner just looking at this picture!
